The Ostrich Syndrome: Those
with this problem don't want to fly to the sun. They don't even want to look at it in the face of risk, they prefer to stick their heads in the sand. You may have symptoms of the Ostrich Syndrome if you: • rarely test your potential • are rarely concerned about your personal and career growth • hate taking chances • have little responsibility at work • prefer not to know when something goes wrong. It's easy to fall into the patterns of the Ostrich Syndrome. As we grow into adulthood, many of us make decisions that progressively reduce the need to take risks, thereby narrowing our opportunities, limiting our horizons, reducing the input of fresh viewpoints, and sealing off our potential for joy. We stop our education, freezing on knowledge at whatever level we had when we left school. This, too, predetermines to a great extent our job and associates - and limits how far we can fly. Just to get by, many of us tend to seek out a little comfort zone, preferring not to move if we don't have to. And when we do, we take the easiest paths of least resistance. It's comfortable in our safe, established hole in the sand. It's impossible to enjoy working until you can shake off the shackles of apathy and stagnation. Don't be an ostrich - assert your option to choose and assume your rightful role to grow, to change, to take responsible risks. Quote this article on your site | Views: 568 | Print | E-mail
