It must be comforting for a person to wake up after surgery to see the people who mean the most gathered around the bed. For Melvyn Reed of Kettering, Northamptonshire, England, however, it wasn't so nice when he awoke from triple bypass surgery to the faces of his three wives. While Melvyn was on the operating table getting his bypass, his life as a double bigamist suddenly reached an impasse. "Unfortunately, the timing of the visits went out of sync," he told officers when they investigated. "And they all arrived at once." When the triplets realized they all had something in common, namely Melvyn, they confronted the three-timer, and he confessed again, and again, and again. Melvyn turned himself over to the police in September 2005, was charged with bigamy, given a suspended jail term, and fined court costs of 70 pounds ($129 US). According to the London Telegraph, Melvyn's first wife apparently forgave him and he moved back in with her. In baseball terms, he went from a triple, to a single, to a home run.
