One man s expression of love for his girlfriend made a big splash. A thirty-eight-year-old Oregon man, Todd Grannis, climbed up a ten-foot scaffold as girlfriend, Melissa Kuseik, and about a hundred other people watched. Once at the top Grannis set himself on fire and then jumped into a swimming pool to extinguish the flames. He leaped out of the water, dropped on one knee in front of Kuseik, and popped the question. "Honey, you make me hot. I hope I'm getting the point across that I'm on fire for you." Kuseik accepted his July 2005 plummeting pyrotechnic proposal but let him know that she was hot under the collar that he had put himself in such danger.
