Carol Beck is principal at Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn, New York. Though her contributions are numerous, she thinks the most important one is the "grieving room." The violent atmosphere in which her students live brings death to several of them each year. Beck said she noticed how school violence accelerated after a student killing. She said: "The one thing our kids did not have was a chance and a place to mourn. We gave them a grieving room." Scripture tells us, "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4}). As always, Scripture gives us just what we need. - Rick Davis Quote this article on your site | Views: 350 | Print | E-mail
