Della Drimland of Denver, Colorado, filed for divorce after realizing her husband of seven years had been lying to her. Did he have an affair? No, he had been pretending for the last several years to be deaf and dumb. Bill Drimland admitted that he adopted the Helen Keller routine to escape his wife's endless nagging. He thought she would stop her incessant ragging once he turned deaf, but when that didn't work, he decided to become mute as well.
