The Genessee County Sheriff's Department received a call reporting a car being driven erratically. Within three minutes a trooper received the alert and rushed to intercept the offender. The deputy stopped at an intersection and gasped in astonishment. Twenty seconds before, the speeding car had crossed that intersection and down the street he saw the results: the wreckage of a driver education car nearly demolished from the head-on collision. Three students and their driving instructor were dead inside. The guilty party and his friend had been drinking while driving. Only three minutes elapsed between the time the call came into the Sheriff's office and deputies began seeking the car. By only twenty seconds the car beat the deputy to the intersection. For the families of the deceased, it might as well have been eons. Help coming too late is like a pardon after the execution. Quote this article on your site | Views: 220 | Print | E-mail
