Just as stories with morals sometimes backfire, so do the attempts of teachers to instill ideas of charity and sacrifice for others in their students. One girl seemed remarkably enthusiastic when her teacher suggested she could share her toys with the less fortunate. "I'm going to give all my toys to the underprivileged children," she said.
