Solution
An electric eel is being used to light up a Christmas tree in Japan. Tow aluminum panels inside the eel's tank work as electrodes to catch its power. Cables attached to the panels supply the lights on the nearby tree with electricity. I think they might have stumbled on a solution to our growing energy problem.

Charging
A credit-approval glitch at a Milwaukee Kmart led to a holiday shopping season "store melee" during which a security guard was thrown into a glass jewelry case. He was trying to keep a fight between two women from spilling farther into the store. People apparently rushed to the Kmart when they heard that a glitch in the computer system that approves credit card applications was causing it to OK cards for everyone who applied. A lot of Milwaukee people must have really bad credit.

Wait
As the Hollywood writer's strike continues, Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien have broken ranks with striking scribes and will return to their respective after hours comedy programs, "The Tonight Show" and "Late Night" on January 2nd. Until the strike is settled, they'll do their shows without writers. Comedians without material, I can't wait to watch.

Worst
That infamous holiday recording of dogs singing "Jingle Bells" may be the number one worst Christmas song of all time according to a study conducted by two media research companies. "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" by Elmo & Patsy must come in at a close second.

Late
A postcard featuring a color drawing of Santa Claus and a young girl was mailed in 1914, but was lost for over 90 years. It was recently found and has just arrived in northwest Kansas. That is slow even for US Mail's standards.

According to a British survey, one in four house-hunters are put off buying a home because of the neighbor's garish Christmas decorations. And about a third of those viewed a house with those garish Christmas decorations still up in February. I let my neighbors know that having Christmas decorations up during the holiday season is long enough.

Selling
A Florida woman claims she recently saw Jesus and Mary in a pancake. Port St. Lucie resident Dana O'Kane says she saw the outline of Jesus and Mary in the pancake and took it as a reassuring sign form her recently departed father. It will be selling on eBay for a couple grand some time soon.

Losing
The Miami Dolphins avoided going winless for the season as a 64-yard touchdown in overtime gave them a 22-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens. After the TD, the Dolphin's bench cleared, with players sprinting to the end zone. One writer observed it was as if the team had just won the Super Bowl. I wonder what the Raven's bench looked like?

Cost

Alex Rodriguez has yet again set a record for baseball's highest contract, finalizing his $275 million, 10-year agreement with the New York Yankees. This is the main reason why a hot dog at stadiums cost $20 dollars.
