Before the Communist Revolution in China, a group of Chinese clergymen invited a U.S. seminary professor to their country to conduct a seminar on modern Biblical scholarship. The professor began the exercise by proposing a series of questions on the Bible. His purpose was to discover the present level of the Chinese clergymen's Bible learning. Among the questions he asked was the following: "What is the most impressive incident in all the Gospels?" After retiring for a time to talk this over, the Chinese clergymen reported back that they had arrived at an answer unanimously. It wasn't the Crucifixion; it wasn't the Resurrection; it wasn't the Sermon on the Mount that impressed them most. It was Jesus kneeling to wash the feet of His disciples.
