An American in Irkutsk, Russia, went to his American doctor complaining of stomach pains and severe vomiting. Surgery revealed a torn artery at the juncture of the stomach and esophagus. Transfusions after surgery should have completed the patient's recovery, but his blood count dropped dangerously despite repeated transfusions. A microscopic examination of the man's blood stunned the physician: the red cells were torn and chewed though the same blood type had been used. The doctor quickly deduced that minor incompatibilities between Russian and American blood were making the transfusions deadly. The man needed American blood, or he would die. Henry Kissinger, in Moscow at the time, prevailed on the Soviets to allow an Air Force plane to fly the necessary blood in from Germany. Another plane, with the dying American already aboard, would fly him on to Japan. Minutes after the Air Force plane arrived, technicians transferred the patient and began transfusions with the life-giving blood. Within three hours his pulse had returned to near normal. The doctor was right. The man's immunity system had known the difference; it detected even minor inconsistencies in the Russian blood and attacked to kill the intruder. Many cures have been offered for humanity's spiritual illness — some are foolish and impractical, some are feasible and possible, but none are successful. Only Christ's blood satisfies the requirements of God's justice and human need. Quote this article on your site | Views: 395 | Print | E-mail
