Someone once wrote an article containing some real life stories about people with bad habits. One story was about a middle-aged clergyman who had a terrible way with sick people. He visited sick members of his congregation and they would naturally want to talk to him about their illness. But he had developed the habit of turning it off completely and responding with some reference to his own medical history. For example, his response to someone with a broken ankle might be, "The same thing happened to me the first time I went skiing." If the patient had migraine headaches he would say something like, "I had to take two aspirin myself this morning." One day at the hospital, a patient had just finished telling him about her recent surgery. "My dear," he responded, "I had the same problem a few years ago." Because he had been true to his bad habit of not listening, he didn't realize that two days ago the woman had delivered a baby by Ceasarean Section. "Tell me," she said icily, "who is your obstetrician?" Quote this article on your site | Views: 347 | Print | E-mail
