A French clergyman catechising the youths of his parish, put the first question from the catechism to a girl: "What is your only consolation in life and in death?"
The poor girl smiled, but did not answer.  The priest insisted. "Well then," said she, "since I must tell, it is the shoemaker on Second Street."
