In a park in Los Angeles I saw a full-grown tree that had grown rather crooked. It was anything but growing straight up. The strangest thing about the situation was that someone had placed an upright stick or pole near it and tied them together with ropes, but the tree had grown out so far from the place where the trunk came out of the ground that there was a lot of distance between the pole and the tree - perhaps a yard or two.
