In the classic Greek Comedy, Lysistrata, the husbands of the women of Athens persistently wage war against the Spartans. The women demand peace, but there is no peace. Then the heroine, Lysistrata, hits upon an ingenious plan: the women will deny their husbands' conjugal rights until they stop the killing.
Says Lysistrata:

For if we women will but sit at home,
Powdered and trimmed, clad in our daintiest lawn,
Employing all our charms, and all our arts
To win men's love, and when we've won it, then
Repel them, firmly, till they end the war.
We'll soon get Peace again, be sure of that.
