On almost all his musical manuscripts, Johann Sebastian Bach placed two sets of initials. At the beginning he wrote the letters, "J.J."— Jesu juvet, "Jesus help me." And at the end he wrote the letters, "S.D.G.", Soli Deo gloria, "To God alone be the glory." Considering that God is to be our beginning and ending, we could do well to inscribe those initials at the beginning and end of each of our days.
