When Sarah Pronkos of Port Charlotte, Florida, suffered a seizure while driving, her 8-year-old son, Nicholas, who was riding in the car, came to the rescue. Seeing his mother passed out, Nicholas climbed from the back seat, took the wheel, and steered the car away from a canal. It came to a halt after colliding with a truck. “I didn't want to crash Mama's car and go into the lake and die,” he explained. “I thought I was gonna get under arrested cause I got into a car accident.” His mother said, “He went into little man mode. It was the most amazing thing.”
Rare Disease
Lizzie Velasquez, age 21, must eat every 15 minutes to help her stay alive. She is not anorexic, but she has a rare condition that prevents her from gaining weight. She eats up to 60 small meals a day that total 5,000 to 8,000 calories.
All day long she eats small portions of crisps, sweets, chocolate, pizza, chicken, cake, doughnuts, ice cream, noodles and pop tarts. She gets pretty upset when people accuse her of being anorexic.
Doctors think Lizzie might have something called Neonatal Progeroid Syndrome (NPS) which causes accelerated aging, fat loss from the face and body, and tissue degeneration.
Rescue Obstruction
A Colorado rafting guide was charged with “obstructing government operations” after he dove into a river to rescue a 13-year-old girl. Police say Ryan Snodgrass disobeyed a direct order from officers when he swam through rushing rapids to help the girl, who'd fallen out of a raft. “It's not about who's in charge,” said rafting company owner Duke Bradford. “It's about the safety of a 13-year-old girl.”
Space Sex
A veteran NASA astronaut has claimed that there is no time or place for astronauts on the International Space Station to engage in sexual activity while doing their orbital duty.
When asked about sex in space during a press conference in Tokyo, Alan Poindexter said: "We treat each other with respect and we have a great working relationship. Personal relationships are not ... an issue."
He added, "We don´t have them and we won´t." The mechanics of sex in space are often explored when the future potential of deep space travel is theoretically explored. Humans will need the ability to procreate during deep space exploration.
The Roosevelts
The collective opinion of the 238 presidential scholars polled by the Siena College Research Institute places Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt as the best U.S. president of all time. Republican Theodore Roosevelt was right behind at No. 2.
Rounding out the top 5 are Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. FDR has ranked the No. 1 president in every Siena survey for nearly 30 years, as candidates are rated in 20 categories of job skills and personal qualities.
Dwight D. Eisenhower is the highest rated president of the modern era; President Obama is ranked 15th. The worst of all time is Andrew Johnson, and the bottom five also includes James Buchanan, Warren Harding, Franklin Pierce and George W. Bush.
